Being a Maid of Honour is no easy task, and it certainly isn’t for the faint of heart especially in the case of a bride who’s a little extra stressed. If you’re planning a Hen’s Party you already know we’ve got you covered here at Sparkle Burlesque, but we’ve seen so many Wedding parties we’ve got a trick or two up our sleeve for the big day, too – and we’re going to share it with you to make your life a whole lot easier. (Exclusive Tip: a hip flask is a must).

We’ve compiled this super handy list of essential handbag items to have on hand to avoid any disasters heading your way on the Bride’s perfect day.

  1. Stain remover pen

There’s a rule when wearing white. Not a rule for people, but an unspoken rule for nature, food and children to mess everything up. Get a stain remover pen or towelette (or ten of each) to avoid crises.

2. Bobby Pins

Hair everywhere is flat out annoying – a few little adjustments to the up-do will be barely noticeable with a bobby pin on hand.

3. Oil Blotting Pads

Sometimes makeup does its own thing. A nervous sweat here and there does its own thing, too – so a few of these will never go astray. The bridesmaids’ may also need a couple for pre-photo perfection so a full packet should do the trick.

4. Mini Sewing Kit

Complete with safety pins, thread the colour of the bridesmaids’ dresses and a spare button.

5. Fashion Tape

You never know.

6. Panadol

Stress can certainly induce a headache, or a tummy ache. A bridezilla can also induce a headache, but that’s a story for another time. Your choice of mild pain killer and maybe an anti-nausea tablet could go into your survival kit (for you or the bride, who knows).

7. Chalk

Strangely enough, this is one is for any smears or smudges that your stain remover pen won’t budge. A little bit of chalk the colour of the gown will cover any marks on the bride’s dress right up, and save the day.

8. Lint Roller

Maybe. Just do it, the last thing you want to be thinking is ‘why didn’t I bring a lint brush’. The groom might need it, anyway.

9. Q-Tips

Again, just do it. For some reason these little suckers are always needed.

10. Tissues

The old last but not least. Tissues. Your best friend / sister / aunty / someone is getting married, and you’re ALL going to need tissues.

This should keep you going for the day – but hey, if you’ve got some to add or you’re looking to discuss Bridesmaid Strategy with girls in the same situation, we’ve got the community for you. Come over to Secret Bridesmaids Business on Facebook and join the convo. Can’t wait to see you there!
